This powerful biographical film dramatises the life of the late African-American human rights activist Malcolm X. Having grown up in foster care and engaged in petty crime in his youth, Malcolm finds purpose and inspiration in religion and grows into a charismatic and militant leader of the 1960's Black liberation movement. This enthralling film also teaches the important history of race relations during this era, and how Malcolm X's philosophies and teachings continue to inspire others to this day.
Sean Penn won an Oscar for this inspiring portrayal of gay rights campaigner, Harvey Milk.
