Synopsis

This animated delight revolves around Blu, a rare macaw who has lived a domesticated existence in small town America for his whole life. However, when he meets the bird of his dreams, Jewel, his whole perspective is changed and he becomes overjoyed to discover that he is not the last of his kind. Although Blu is cautious and anxious whilst Jewel is wild and free, he nevertheless finds himself pining for her affection but amusing personality clashes become the least of the birds' worries, after they're stolen by thieves and have to stage a daring escape. Thrown together and with the incompetent animal smugglers in pursuit, Blu and Jewel begin the adventure of a lifetime, learning lessons about love, friendship and courage along the way.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
