Don Siegel directed one of the classic prison movies, 1954's Riot In Cell Block 11, and returns to the genre 25 years later with a brilliantly tense, sparse retelling of an actual escape from Alcatraz. The prison was a mile and a half out in San Francisco Bay and deemed 'escape-proof' when it was built in the 1930s. Clint Eastwood stars, playing Frank Morris, the criminal mastermind determined to beat the system, break free and show the smug prison warden who's really boss.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language.
