Wendy is a wanderer. Homeless and virtually penniless, she is making her painstaking way north to Alaska, where she hopes to find work. Her only companion is her golden retriever Lucy, and when Wendy's clapped-out old car finally breaks down, she faces the prospect of having to survive alone on the streets. It may sound gloomy, but Michelle Williams' incredibly moving performance and director Kelly Reichardt's understated style have us walking in Wendy's shoes every step of the way, making for a very memorable and special film.
A raw, bittersweet drama of two people falling out of love just as powerfully as they fell into it.
