Synopsis

Neil Jordan's biopic of one of the leading figures in the IRA in the early years of the 20th Century portrays him as a complex figure, but certainly a hero who, having inspired republicans to use violence to bring about a united Ireland, eventually emerged as a committed peace-maker. Some argued that this offers a distorted, simplified version of the true story, but whether or not it represents a reliable history lesson it's a stirring, thrilling film.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
