In the rural, mountainous region of Jura, France, eighteen-year-old Totone leads a carefree small-town life, partying with his friends and emulating his dad, a cheesemaker who drinks heavily. When tragedy strikes, Totone is suddenly left alone to look after the family farm and his seven-year-old sister. Things look bleak, until he meets Marie-Lise, who is blunt but sympathetic, as she now runs her parents' dairy farm after being orphaned herself. Totone then comes up with a wildly ambitious get-rich-quick scheme: to win the 30,000 euro first prize in the region's Comté cheese competition. His friends rally round to help carry out the plan, which involves Totone distracting Marie-Lise with romance while they steal her farm's high-quality milk. Trouble inevitably ensues when Totone develops feelings for the girl and when they realise that knocking-out a prize-winning wheel of cheese is not as straight-forward as they assumed. A charming film about life's sudden turns, friendship, love and never giving up.

Totone then comes up with a wildly ambitious get-rich-quick scheme: to win the 30,000 euro first prize in the region’s Comté cheese competition. His friends rally round to help carry out the plan, which involves Totone distracting Marie-Lise with romance while they steal her farm’s high-quality milk. Trouble inevitably ensues when Totone develops feelings for the girl – and when they realise that knocking-out a prize-winning wheel of cheese is not as straight-forward as they assumed. A charming film about life’s sudden turns, friendship, love and never giving up.
