With 63% of children aged 8-11 and 93% of children aged 12-15 using social media,* it's crucial that we speak to children and young people about life online.

In this session, you will take part in a range of engaging film-based activities to support discussion on themes, issues and strategies to stay safe online.

Using highlights from films, you'll learn how to analyse characters' actions to build critical thinking skills, respond to storylines to build empathy, and highlight the importance of seeking support. You'll also explore how you can then connect these film examples to real life contexts such as questioning what information we choose to share online.

This session is a part of Into Film's Wellbeing training, which also includes Mindfulness Through Film and Anti-Bullying. In this suite of sessions, we explore how film can be a powerful tool for developing empathy, exploring impact through ‘what ifs’, and discussing difficult issues faced by the character, all at a level removed from issues that a young person may be facing themselves.

This session is for educators of 5–18-year-olds. If you are having trouble accessing this session or if you have any additional accessibility requirements, please contact onlinehelp@intofilm.org
