About the resource

Wicked Friendships explores the transformative power of friendship, and offers a space for self-reflection. The resource allows learners to both celebrate the joys of friendship, and develop confidence in navigating its challenges with kindness.

Drawing on the film’s trailer and the evolving bond between Glinda and Elphaba, pupils will consider conflict, communication, and compromise. They’ll come to understand how friendships can change us for the better, and how identities can be shaped through connections with others.

Wicked Friendships includes:

Find a Friend activity sheet

After discussing how to recognise and define friendship, pupils will share facts about themselves to forge connections with their classmates.

Pieces of Us activity sheet

Pupils will collaborate on a creative jigsaw-themed task that considers the qualities of a good friend.

Magically Me home learning sheet

Learners will reflect on their identities and express themselves through a self-portrait homework task.

The Road to Change activity sheet

Pupils will consider friends and experiences that have helped them change for the better, plotting these on a personal Yellow Brick Road of Change.

Make a Change activity sheet

Finally, learners will build on what it means to change for good by making pledges for their future self-development.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
