Duration

Medium (5-11 activities)

Inspired by smart and brave lead character, Artemis Fowl: Decoding Your World is a package of resources especially designed for learning from home. Aimed at 7-14 year olds, the resources draw on maths, English and computing in a series of activities designed to explore coding and character. Three engaging home learning activity sheets challenge young people to solve Gnommish code featured in the film and decode textual clues about the lead character. The activity sheets are supported by a home learning guide for educators and parents.

Based on the award-winning books by Eoin Colfer, Disney's Artemis Fowl tells the story of a 12-year-old boy whose world changes forever when his father is kidnapped. As he battles to save him, Artemis is thrust into a fantasy realm he never knew existed. He must decide who is friend and who is foe as he navigates a host of mythical creatures in a world beyond his wildest imagination. Now streaming exclusively on Disney+.

The resource is complemented by a creative writing competition, offering students the chance to win a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Camera for themselves, plus an Artemis Fowl goody bag (containing a copy of the original Artemis Fowl book by Eoin Colfer, a backpack and a journal) for themselves and each member of their school class. To enter, students must write a creative piece where they imagine waking up in a future world that has access to new technologies.

Please note that the Artemis Fowl competition has now ended.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
