The industry-led Discover! Creative Careers programme, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, has informed and inspired young people about careers in the creative sector, and brought together partners from industry and education to deliver activity that has reached young people at scale and broadened awareness of opportunities across the UK.
The new pilots delivered by Into Film in Scotland and Wales in 2025/26 extended the Discover! Creative Careers programme's national footprint and brought the creative industries to more than 20,000 young people.
In Wales, the pilot reached over 9,000 young people between September 2025 and March 2026. Activities took place across the country and with all creative industry subsectors. Alongside industry open doors and online experiences, we also delivered five flagship roadshow events in Conwy, Wrexham, Swansea, Torfaen, and Denbighshire.
In Scotland we reached over 11,000 young people over the same period, with activities taking place in schools, workplaces and online, and offering a range of opportunities for young people to connect with creative industry practitioners.
Both national pilots exceeded their targets, helping to open doors to the creative industries and bringing industry and schools together to inspire the next generation.
Fiona Evans, Into Film CEO, said: "To have opened the door to the creative industries in both nations for more than 20,000 young people over an eight-month period is both a real achievement and a clear indication that schools and employers can work together to provide vital support, guidance and opportunity."
"Into Film will continue to deliver screen industry careers inspiration, advice and work-experience, at scale, to schools in all four nations, through their lottery-funded Careers and Progression programme and as part of the new Creative Careers Service."

Ian Murray, Creative Industries Minister, said: "Discover Creative Careers has been a resounding success, opening doors for over 100,000 young people and ensuring our world-class creative sectors will be fuelled by a truly diverse pipeline of talent. ScreenSkills and their industry partners have bridged the gap between the classroom and the workplace, showcasing the breadth of opportunities available across the country, and empowering the next generation of creative talent."
Since 2023, Discover! Creative Careers' wider programme has reached approximately 210,000 young people, generating 284,000 website views, and 30 million across social media. Employers and industry bodies from across all creative subsectors including film, TV, music, gaming, theatre, fashion, design, craft, exhibitions, advertising and digital content have played a central role, by delivering hands-on experiences including workplace visits and creative briefs, through direct engagement with professionals, helping to demystify the industry and broaden young people's horizons.
Discover! Creative Careers Month 2025 alone saw 81,409 young people receive encounters with creative workplaces and professionals, engaging more than 1,200 schools and 600 employers, with industry contributing an estimated £1.5 million in-kind through time, campaign support, expertise and resources.
These are such amazing opportunities to visit places and hear from professional in a way the school cannot offer by itself. Seeing just how close-by these places are is inspiring to the pupils in terms of making it a realistic career option - it's not just for Hollywood!
