Bold, controversial and full of nostalgic energy, comedic actor Jonah Hill's directorial debut is a 1996-set drama that follows Stevie, a 13 year old Los Angeles kid who embraces skateboarding to make new friends and escape his troubled home life. Mid90s is an expressive coming-of-age film with a pulsating soundtrack that explores serious themes such as mental health, addiction and abuse.
Finally, a lush drama set in rural Doncaster in the sleepy summertime of 1994. Pond Life follows Trevor, a young teen who hears rumours of a giant carp that lives in the nearby ponds. Deciding to bring his friends and family together on a fishing expedition to catch the legendary creature, Trevor and his compatriots each overcome their individual struggles in search of an impossible, fish-shaped dream. Full of heart and authenticity, this is a film that reaffirms the importance of community and explores the values of post-industrial Britain.
