What I liked: While the film has a similar feel as The Goonies where there's a group of friends discovering an unknown thing, I liked the fact that this film kept things fresh by making it more darker than The Goonies. Another thing that I liked about this film is that the villain of the movie (that being the previously mentioned monster) is mostly shown as a mysterious figure that more of its appearance gets revealed as the film continues. The CGI animation of the monster was surprisingly good.

What I didn't enjoy: While this flaw kind of sounds like a spoiler, but I was rather confused that the film didn't show a reasoning behind why there was a monster suddenly on Earth and the sudden disappearance of dogs. Both of these things were never given any explanations or clear-ups once the film ended.
