The last time I checked, being a blonde woman did not require any form of legal process for verification, but alas, 'Legally Blonde' is here to enlighten we ignorant males to the intellect women possess. I've never doubted women as a whole are any less intelligent than men, of course (they are very often more so), but as an individual Elle Woods, our "hero" redefines what it means to be an imbecile. Elle is an ignorant and naïve beauty student who switches over to law in pursuit of her law student boyfriend, who is a thoroughly dislikeable human being who's plot function, as far as I can tell, is to redistribute the viewer's hatred of the characters across both sexes. Our lead character follows 'The Incredible Optimised Chick Flick Flowchart™' as she gradually and impossibly wins the respect of every buffoon around her with her 'charm'. We see every trope in the book unfold before our eyes, and the jokes about gay people make the supposed equality aspect of the film a total farce. If 'Legally Blonde' accomplished one thing, it helps revitalise the passions of tomboys and sadists alike to microwave their Barbies once again.
