If it was written now, 1931’s “Dracula” remake would be one of the most intensely criticised movies ever, and I would rate it 2 stars but when I think about it, this movie was scary, was ahead of its time and did have a climatic, suspenseful ending. Nowadays, the effects are awful, there are too many close ups of Bela Lugosi, Van helsing’s Scottish? accent was awful and the movie looks so old the screen seems to creak. Strangely though, I feel an admiration towards the makers because they used what the best was at the time and even though today it sucks, then, it was great.
Print this reviewBeautifully atmospheric, haunting Swedish horror about a bullied kid who makes friends with the vampire who's moved in next door.

Tim Burton's very good film about some very bad films made by the inept but enthusiastic Ed Wood.

This classic and much-imitated take on Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of the most famous of all silent films.
