It's 1959 and 12-year-old Swedish boy Ingemar is having a rough time. His mother is ill, his elder brother torments him, and he worries about Laika, the Russian dog that's just been sent into space. When their mother's condition worsens, the boys are sent to stay with different relatives - and it turns out to be a blessing for Ingemar. His uncle lives in a small village inhabited by some decidedly odd but mostly friendly characters, who welcome Ingemar with open arms. And although he misses his dog Sickan, no-one there minds if he barks like a dog himself. This is a charming, quirky and touching coming-of-age tale.
Charming and sharp French film about a little boy who likes dressing as a girl.
