What would happen if someone invented a material that always stayed clean and never wore out - surely everyone would be happy? In The Man In The White Suit, the answer is not quite - because the invention doesn't much please the clothing manufacturers, or the trade unions, or even the landlady of the inventor, who usually gets paid to do his laundry. In fact, almost everyone involved turns on hapless, idealistic scientist Sidney Stratton - who naively thinks that he is doing society a great favour in this dazzling British comedy from the 1950s.
Stylish, neatly constructed film about a maths genius who's sure he's close to discovering the key to everything and that hostile forces are watching.
