This documentary is about a bunch of Californian teenagers who revolutionised skateboarding in the 1970s. The Zephyr Skating Team from Santa Monica were influenced by west coast surfers, and applied the same moves to their own boards on dry land. Using the streets and drained swimming pools of their "Dogtown" neighbourhood, the "Z-Boys" created a daring, acrobatic style that wowed audiences when they competed in the 1975 Del Mar Nationals - and gave birth to much of what we now know as modern-day skating. Director Stacy Peralta is an original member of the team himself and as such gives great authority and insight to this fascinating story.
