Synopsis

This superb Japanese anime begins with a young boy called Pazu meeting a young girl named Sheeta - who happens to drop into his life from out of the sky, floating down to earth with a pendant around her neck which can act as a key to the mythical sky-kingdom of Laputa. But that pendant is wanted both by a band of pirates and government bureaucrats - and Pazu and Sheeta are forced to go on the run as a result. One of the first full-length features made by the brilliant anime director Hayao Miyazkai, this is a wonderfully light-hearted treat.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
