With this classic comedy, director and star Charlie Chaplin created a hilarious tale of mistaken identity and a powerful satire - made at a time when the world was on the brink of chaos after the rise of the Nazis in Germany. It's the last days of World War One and a wounded soldier loses his memory. On his release, the soldier opens a little barber shop and settles into regular life. Through a series of events, he is soon mistaken for the evil dictator who he resembles - and is given a chance to make a speech to the troubled nation that could change the course of history for the better.
Set during World War One, this film from legendary director Jean Renoir about three French soldiers in a prison camp portrays war's harsh realities.
