A wonderful screen version of one of the most moving true stories to emerge from World War Two - about a young Jewish girl, Anne, and her family who are forced to hide from the Nazis for two years in a claustrophobic attic in occupied Amsterdam. Despite having no contact with the outside world and virtually no privacy, the Franks try to go about their lives as best they can, while hoping for Holland to be liberated by the Allies. Although Anne's story is often distressing for audiences, it's a hugely important story of a normal girl forced to face the grim realities of war and racial hatred - but never allowing herself to lose her sense of optimism.
Based on a true story, this is a tale of friendship and the loss of innocence in a boarding school in Nazi-occupied France.
