This visually driven animation uses very few words but a whole lot of expression to tell the story of Madame Souza, a little old French lady who dotes on her grandson, Champion. After she gifts the boy a tricycle as a child, he grows up to take part in the legendary cycle race the Tour de France - only to get himself kidnapped along the way. But his intrepid grandma and faithful dog Bruno are hot on the heels of the perpetrators, tracking them to a chaotic metropolis where the French mafia are running a shady operation. Here they meet three very eccentric musicians, who will become invaluable in this against-all-odds rescue mission. Celebrated for its intricately hand-drawn mise-en-scène and oddball comedy, this unique film is regarded as a cult classic and is a must-see for students exploring arthouse cinema and different animation styles.
Contains mild (animated) nudity and some moderate violence
