This period romantic drama based on Jane Austen's iconic novel follows the lives of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, in the wake of their father's death. This being late 18th-century England, the sisters and their widowed mother find themselves having to rely financially on the generosity of male relatives and are forced to leave their Sussex estate for more modest living arrangements. Elinor and Marianne are bound by unwavering devotion yet divided by their opposing sensibilities: Elinor has a calm, rational nature, while Marianne has a passionate and emotional outlook. As both sisters experience love and heartbreak, they face disappointment, betrayal, and the challenges of social expectations. But through their contrasting experiences and sisterhood, they also mature and grow, learning to balance emotion with reason. This charming and witty adaptation highlights the importance of resilience and thoughtful judgment in relationships and life.
