Based on Stephen King's novella, this mature drama takes place in a dystopian future where the government orchestrates a brutal, televised event known as "The Long Walk." One hundred teenage boys, selected from across the nation, are forced to walk continuously without resting, eating, or stopping. The rules are simple: fall below a certain speed, and you're eliminated permanently. The last boy standing wins the ultimate prize: anything he desires for the rest of his life. Ray Garraty, a kind-hearted but determined participant, quickly bonds with some of the other boys, particularly the boisterous but well-meaning Peter McVries – but the idea of friendship soon becomes warped within the cruelty of the competition. An adaptation which takes a chilling look at the desperation people will go to in order to escape their harsh lives and the media frenzy surrounding violence and dehumanisation.
