Synopsis

Joy Batchelor was an integral part of the husband-and-wife team Halas & Batchelor Cartoon Films, a pioneering British animation studio that produced the classic allegorical fable Animal Farm along with many highly popular TV series throughout the 1940s and 1950s. This series of films is based on well-known fairy tale stories by The Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault and Hans Christian Anderson. Each eight-minute-long film is animated with simple yet delightful cutout collages based on bold watercolor designs by Swedish illustrator Sunniva Kellquist.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
