From the makers of My Life as a Courgette comes a charming coming-of-age story about a young person’s journey through environmental awareness – and towards self-discovery. At the edge of a vast rainforest in Borneo, a Swiss girl named Kéria lives with her father, who works at a palm oil plantation. Her late mother was part of the indigenous Penan people, but Kéria is not interested in this part of her heritage. She is passionate about the environment, becoming even more so after rescuing a baby orangutan from the plantation where her dad works. When her younger cousin Selaï also comes to stay with them after his tribe is displaced due to deforestation, the two children and their new orangutan friend team up with the local community to fight back against the logging companies. This beautifully crafted film invites audiences into the vivid heart of the rainforest and to connect with our sense of adventure and justice.
This visually rich documentary details the work of two landowners who use radical methods to transform their estate to its previous glory.
