Synopsis

When her young, usually jovial, son Minato begins exhibiting strange behaviour at home, his mother Saori begins to suspect that something may be happening at his school. Eventually managing to get the information out her son that it has been his teacher who has been bullying him, she furiously storms into the school and demands his immediate firing. However, when the perspective of the story pivots to Minato, his teacher and then the new boy at school, the truth of what has happened with Minato gradually becomes clear. This Japanese drama, with children and school-life at its centre, has a maze-like story structure that explores prejudice and rational thought, concluding in an empathetic and dramatic fashion.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
