Synopsis

Olivia and Gavin are a middle-aged couple with no children. When she sees a television advert appealing for people to ‘adopt a penguin’ she calls up to donate… and then the penguin arrives on their doorstep! While Olivia quickly takes to being a mother, Gavin is less pleased by this foreign creature. But after he sees the hostile treatment the penguin receives during his first day of school, Gavin resolves to be a better father and to help make his adopted son feel accepted. ‘Pengugee’ is a non-dialogue puppet animation which introduces topics such as displacement to primary-aged learners in an accessible manner.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
