Synopsis

Set in the fictional land of Kumandra, a fantasy world based on real South Asian culture, this film tells the story of a warrior princess, Raya, who must find a way to defeat the Druun, an evil plague that turns anything it touches to stone. After the Druun is awakened from its 500 year slumber, Raya sets out on an epic adventure to find the last dragon, a creature she believes is the key to bringing peace back to Kumandra. Upon meeting Sisu, the dragon who sacrificed itself to save the humans half a millennia ago, the two decide to work together to the best of their abilities but is it already too late to stop the Druun? This gorgeously animated tale foregrounds the rich history of Asian culture whilst telling an engaging, accessible story of teamwork, grief and overcoming our prejudices in order to succeed.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
