A middle-aged Chinese-Canadian woman is given the shock of her life when she is about to eat a dumpling and hears it cry out, recognising that it has come to life! She decides to look after the baby dumpling, feeding it, nursing it and looking after its health and safety. But as the dumpling grows up and gets older, it begins to rebel, leading to the reoccurrence of some uncomfortable and upsetting feelings as she realises the distance that is developing between them.
