High-school sweethearts Blaire and Mitch are chatting on Skype one evening when they’re joined by their schoolfriends Jess, Ken and Adam, as well as a mysterious account with the username “billie227”. Despite their best efforts, the gang are unable to rid themselves of the rogue user, who initially offers up no explanation for its presence. After digging around, Blaire finds that “billie227” belongs to Laura Barns, a former classmate of the five who committed suicide the previous year after a humiliating video of her was posted online. As home truths about each of the group are slowly revealed, the stranger begins to pose a sinister threat to the safety of the complicit individuals. Set entirely on a computer screen, and the film to kick off the “ScreenLife” sub-genre, ‘Unfriended’ is an inventive, gory horror about cyber culture and the potential effects of bullying.
very strong language, strong violence, threat, sex, suicide theme
