Synopsis

Award-winning Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi is celebrated for his humanist dramas and yet accused by his government of making propaganda films. In 2010 he was placed under house arrest and banned from making films and yet he defiantly continues to work under the radar - one of his films was even smuggled into Cannes Film Festival in a cake! Taxi is the third since his ban and one that provides a refreshing insight into the current climate inside Iran. Hiding three cameras in a taxi, Panahi drives around picking up passengers and listening to their woes. At times spontaneous, at others clearly staged, each encounter is no less funny, sensitive or eye-opening as Panahi reveals a softhearted side to a country largely associated by modern media with war and conflict.
