Awkward teenager Daniel is frustrated with his not-so-difficult life in Versailles. Nicknamed Microbe because of his small stature and constantly mistaken for a girl because of his long hair, he is relieved to meet fellow outsider Théo. Called Gasoline because of his love of tinkering with cars the two boys soon bond over their oddities and strange behaviours. Keen to break out and see the world, they build a car with a house on it and head out on an exciting road trip. Perhaps not as surreal as the director’s other work, instead the focus is on celebrating the originality and enthusiasm of his young characters, making the film a touching, funny and nostalgic nod to the optimism of youth.
A hugely likeable coming-of-age tale set in 1980s Britain, about a pair of school friends who decide to film a sequel to Rambo.
