Synopsis

In the world of Le Tableau society is strictly divided. On the bottom rung are Sketchies, the painter’s first pencil drawings, at the top, the Alldunns, neatly coloured figures that dominate all and in between are the Halfies. Tired of the Alldunns’ vicious treatment, Lola, a brave Halfie leads a ragtag bunch of drawings on an expedition into the depths of the picture to find the painter and ask him some questions. However, once they reach beyond the frame, they find more fascinating answers than they could have imagined. Beautifully illustrated, Le Tableau is a celebration of difference, tolerance and artistic expression.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
