Updated to modern day New York, Annie is a plucky 10-year old living a hard-knock life in Harlem under the cruel watch of failed pop star Miss Hannigan. Drinking through her misery she constantly reminds Annie and her friends that she is only looking after them for the money. Desperate to get away, Annie’s luck changes when she is saved from being run over by local businessman Will Stacks. In the running for Mayor, Stacks and his advisors seize the opportunity to use Annie as a way to earn more votes. A much more glossy version of the well-known story, featuring songs from the original with a contemporary twist.
