Hannah Arendt was a writer and theorist, who tried to make sense of the horrific events which took place during her lifetime. As a young Jewish woman she had escaped Nazi Germany, and much of her writing sought to understand how people could commit such atrocities. Her coverage, in the New Yorker magazine, of the war crimes trial of Nazi Adolf Eichmann, divided opinion, with many Jews upset by her criticism of the trial and her assessment that Eichmann's actions demonstrated 'the banality of evil' - that he was not a monster, but unable to think for himself. This biographical drama focuses on this particular period in the life of an inspiring, influential woman.
