It's 1950s France and young schoolboy Nicolas is loving life. He's got great mates, doting parents and a friendly teacher; in fact, things couldn't be sweeter for the only child. However his world is rocked when he thinks his mum's pregnant and that his folks are intending to abandon him in the forest to make room for this unwanted sibling. So helped by his eager pals, Nicolas hatches a plan to escape his terrible fate, kicking off a succession of wild misadventures. Based on a best-selling children's book series, this French comedy is well-acted and gently amusing, with likeable characters and a delightful visual style.
