Synopsis

More light-hearted than some of his earlier films, this warm, funny caper from famed British social-realist director Ken Loach is set in Glasgow, with a cast of non-professional, first-time actors. It sees young criminal Robbie, who’s about to become a father, given one last chance by the court to mend his ways. He gets community service, and finds himself repainting a community centre with a bunch of colourful characters. When the motley lot are taken on an outing to a whisky distillery, where some of the casks’ brew sells for hundreds of thousands of pounds, Robbie hatches a plan to secure his future.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
