Convicted for drunk driving, high-flying lawyer Gordon Bombay has a punishment to serve - he must coach the local junior ice hockey team. At first the task seems daunting and Gordon is reluctant. The team he's allocated are the worst in the league and winning doesn't seem like an option for them - some of the players can’t even skate, let alone score! Haunted by his own memories of failure on the ice as a young hockey player, can Gordon use his personal experience to help the team? Under his guidance, the team's performances gradually start to improve, and an unexpected chance at glory and redemption opens up.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
