Spanish director Pedro Almodovar is known for his primary-coloured, irreverent comedy dramas and, though Bad Education contains these elements, it is somewhat darker in both tone and palette to some of his previous films. In part a tribute to Hollywood melodrama and film noir, it tells the story of film director Enrique who is one day visited by a young man claiming to be Enrique's childhood friend, Ignacio. The mysterious newcomer also has a story he thinks could be made into a film but is he who he claims to be, and what does he really want?
