Simon lives with his mother Suzanne in a small bohemian apartment in Paris. Suzanne is desperate to spend more time with Simon, but as court case with their downstairs neighbour looms she decides to hire Song, a filmmaking student, to take care of him. Song's approach to life and her way of seeing inspires Simon, and together they explore Paris, accompanied by a mysterious red balloon. As much about the art of filmmaking as about the wonders of childhood, this is a beautiful tribute to the original short film The Red Balloon.
