Into Film is the UK's leading charity for film in education. We provide screen industry careers information and advice, support young filmmakers, and bring the power of moving image storytelling into classroom teaching.
We have partnered with TNT Sports to introduce a new careers resource: Story Builder: Sports Broadcasting, a dynamic resource designed for Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) learners and their educators.
The first 50 UK schools to sign up for this brand new resource will receive 30 complementary printed activity packs. Whether you're new to Into Film, or already have an account, you can find out more about this resource below, or simply hit the 'Register and Download' button to get started.
Are your students football fanatics, accomplished athletes or career-focused content creators? Whether they play or watch sports, or want to be in front of or behind the camera, Story Builder: Sports Broadcasting will transform their passion into literacy, careers, media and PE learning.
Versatile and adaptable, it guides students through a series of activities that supports the planning and filming of a sports broadcast and helps learners develop key skills that future employers want to see.
When using the resource, your learners will:
Evidence sports knowledge, combine it with media understanding, and develop digital literacy skills
Explore the responsibilities of job roles essential to sports broadcasting
Develop idea generation, decision making, problem solving, evaluation and thinking skills for their own sports broadcast in relation to the world of work
Develop literacy skills and apply the three-act narrative format to their storytelling skills to consolidate their knowledge and understanding of a sporting event
Develop presentation skills
Understand the role of diversity, inclusion and accessibility in creative work
Explore their own sports interests
This resource is for students in Key Stage 3 (or equivalent), aged 11-14, and contains an activity pack of resources, and educators’ notes.
Designed to combine sport knowledge, career exploration, idea generation and literacy development, each section of the activity pack focuses on a different stage of developing a sports broadcast: guiding learners through decision-making and creative activities. Students can bring their ideas to life by recording their planned sports broadcast if they have access to cameras or devices and even organise a screening event with their class.
This resource explores narrative development through the exciting lens of sports broadcasting while highlighting relevant industry careers. It supports:
While the resource is designed for independent use, educator support is encouraged. It is available to download in English, Irish, Welsh, and Scots Gaelic, and includes comprehensive educators’ notes for guidance.
Plus, complementary printed packs are available to the first 50 schools to sign up. Each pack contains 30 x printed activity pack resources and 1 x printed educators' notes.
Please note: all printed packs are in English
