Retail worker Matthew Morning is employed by a popular clothing store in Los Angeles which is frequented one day by an up-and-coming musician known as Oliver. Matthew is a big fan and impresses the artist by playing one of his lesser-known songs on the store’s speakers, resulting in Matthew being given a backstage pass for an upcoming show. As the two quickly become friendly, Matthew is invited to join Oliver’s entourage as his documentarian. Despite initial skepticism from Oliver’s other friends and followers, Matthew soon becomes integrated within the group, but soon feels jealous when another newcomer threatens to derail his relationship with the musician. ‘Lurker’ is an engrossing satire about celebrity, social media, and obsession.
