Synopsis

In a secret underground city, Egyptian mummies go about their business, enjoying their immortal afterlife. Nefer, a princess who wants to be a singer, becomes betrothed to Thut, a former chariot racer, but neither of them is too keen on getting married. When their engagement ring is stolen, Thut sets off with his boomerang-wielding younger brother Sekhem and cute pet crocodile to retrieve it. However, re-entering the land of the living is no mean feat, especially when times have moved on somewhat since the days of Ancient Egypt. Through a series of unfortunate events, the mummy brothers and princess end up in present-day London hot on the heels of the wickedly ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby, who has his own issue with mummies. From the creative team behind the hit animation Tad the Lost Explorer, this time-travelling musical offers plenty of slapstick humour, adventure and gentle engagement with historical periods.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
