Public information films are government-commissioned short films that are usually shown on TV during advertisement breaks. They have historically been used to raise awareness for important issues and changes of policies, such the Race Relations Act. In this short film, the 1968 law banning discrimination on "the grounds of colour, race, or ethnic or national origins" is explained through clear examples of how the rules apply for getting served in a shop, applying for a job, or renting a house. The film serves as an archival document showing what racism looked like in the UK and the language employed by the authorities to try and discourage it.
