Synopsis

Adapted from the classic children's picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, this short animation follows the adventures of a crafty mouse protected from harm by his own vibrant imagination. On a walk through the woods in search of a nut, he meets a series of hungry predators: a snake, an owl and a fox. But the mouse manages to distract them all with tall tales of a terrifying beast on the loose. All is well until the seemingly fictitious ''Gruffalo'' roars onto the scene. Animated with an artful combination of model work and CGI, this is a slick and charismatic treat featuring the beloved rhyming narration in full.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
